SNOW COLLEGE Grounds Technician in EPHRAIM, Utah

Description

Performs a variety of landscaping duties (e.g. sod laying, mowing, trimming and pruning tress and shrubs, planting, watering, fertilizing).

Qualifications
  • One-year of Grounds experience, required;
  • 21 years of age or older, preferred;
  • Computer skills;
  • Class B CDL; preferred; OR willing and able to get it after hire;
  • Pesticide applicators certificate; or willing and able to get it after hire;
  • Must have the ability to read and write basic English;
  • Must have the ability to follow simple oral and written instructions;
  • Some supervisory experience, desired;
  • Familiarity with common grounds methods, mowing, Line trimming, edging, Irrigation, pruning, planting, spraying pesticides, fertilizing and snow plowing preferred;
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds easily, lift and move heavy equipment and furnishings, be able to climb ladders and work from heights of 20 ft. or more;
  • Willing to establish and maintain working relations with supervisors, fellow workers, and students (public relations);
  • Mechanical abilities, maintaining/cleaning equipment, repairs, troubleshooting problems, proper use of mechanics tools, preferred;
  • Must be self-motivated;
  • Must be able to follow instructions;
  • Must pass a criminal background check;
Major Responsibilities/Duties
  • Under general supervision, work with a student crew to maintain lawns and sprinkler system on campus weekly.
  • Trouble shoot and repair all sprinkler system issues.
  • Common sprinkler system knowledge of controllers, valves, heads and nozzles.
  • Pipe fitting repair knowledge from PVC to metal pipe, head spacing and correct nozzle usage.
  • Practice efficient water usage to responsibly maintain our water resources.
  • Must be willing to learn WeatherTrak Sprinkler System Programming.
  • Must have computer skills.
  • Be able to follow a schedule and keep up with the demand of sprinkler repairs on all campus properties.
  • Be able to effectively install a sprinkler system from start to finish.
  • Knowledge and ability to properly apply commercial fertilizers and pesticides.    
  • Duties include, but are not limited to: mowing, line trimming, edging, pruning, planting, weeding, cleaning up leaves, irrigation, snow removal, operating equipment, pouring concrete, installing all types of landscape, garbage, helping with surplus items and assist with recycling program.
  • Driving garbage truck and school bus.
  • Welding and fabricating various items.
  • Equipment maintenance, repairs, scheduled preventative maintenance on all equipment.  
  • Must learn and observe all safety regulations and policies.
  • Work from heights on various tasks.
  • Must be willing to work occasional weekends.
  • Must take weekly shifts for being on call for grounds duties.
Additional Information

Work Hours: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm (October-May) 6:00am-2:30pm (May-October)
