Job Summary

The Lab Technician I is an entry level Laboratory Operations role responsible for assisting with performing chemical and/or microbiological inspection and testing of incoming raw materials, subassembly components, finished product, and manufacturing environments for compliance with TMC's quality system. The lab technician will work under direct supervision in the accomplishment of job duties.

Job Details/Responsibilities

  1. Associate is responsible to follow requirements of applicable national and international regulations.

  2. Follow all safety procedures both in the laboratory and in the manufacturing facilities.

  3. Maintain correct documentation of test results.

  4. Assist with performing necessary microbiological on incoming raw materials, subcomponent parts, and finished product to defined procedures, including but not limited to, bacterial endotoxin testing, bioburden, microbial characterization/gram staining, environmental monitoring (surface and air sampling), sterility testing.

  5. Assist with performing necessary chemical assays on incoming raw materials, subcomponent parts, and finished product to defined procedures, included but not limited to, pH, viscosity, density, moisture analysis (Karl Fischer), gravimetric analysis, particulate testing.

Job Responsibilities (continued)

  1. Prepare small and large batch chemical solutions to defined procedures using general laboratory equipment (mixers, balances, pipettes, drum handlers).

  2. Operate, maintain and clean all laboratory glassware and instruments to defined operating procedures.

  3. Log data into the appropriate computer data files or databases and distribute information to production in a timely fashion.

  4. Review and correctly interpret analytical results in collaboration with Laboratory Operations staff. Demonstrate correct judgment in recommending and implementing any necessary follow-up and support of out of limit and out of specification investigations.

  5. Performs other job related duties assigned.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA)

  • Good written and verbal communication skills, communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing

  • Computer literate with focus Excel and Word

  • Visual Acuity (20/20 or equivalent corrected vision).

  • The ability to maintain focus on the work at hand.

  • The ability to prioritize work.

  • Ability to make product acceptability choices based on quality criteria, test result conformance to specifications, and product requirements.

  • Ability to learn required skills through provided training in order to demonstrate proficiency on chemical and microbiological assays.

Qualifications/ Background Experiences

  • A High School Diploma (or equivalent) with strong math and science background.

A minimum one year of laboratory experience preferred.
