Henry Ford Health System Nurse Practitioner Physician Assistant Body MSK Radiology Full Time Days Detroit in Detroit, Michigan

GENERAL SUMMARY:

  • The Specialty/Invasive Nurse Practitioner (NP/PA) will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

  • The Specialty/Invasive NP/PA will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, consultation, and care coordination as a first line provider to patients and their families.

  • Provides inpatient and/or outpatient medical care.

  • Works in collaboration with attending physicians, advanced practice providers, consultants, house officers, nurses, and other members of the medical care team to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved safely and efficiently.

  • Specific procedures as per credentialing as indicated by training and experience.

  • Works in one of the following departments: Cardiovascular Medicine, Emergency Medicine, ICU, Interventional Radiology, Nephrology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Oncology, Orthopedics, Otolaryngology, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Surgery, Urgent Care, Urology.

    We have worked on QI projects, patient advocate, patient education on procedures to be done.

    Consult: work up requests for procedures and present to MDs, obtain consents, man phone for all calls coming to vascular IR regarding inpatient questions

    Contact other physicians from other disciplines with questions or information about patients.

    Bedside change of gastrostomy tubes, pulling IJ PICC

    CLINIC:

    Seeing new consults as well as follow-up in-person, video and telephone. Any/all clinic patient related questions/concerns.

    do H&P for all new patients.

    Educate patients regarding procedures requested.

    Do follow up visits, this can be with or without physicians.

    Show imaging to patient. Order procedures, referrals to other departments, follow up phone calls,

    Rounding and recovery: see patients on the floor post procedure who did not have a resident with the MD during the procedure, problems solve issues on the floor and in recovery which can include problems with feeding tubes, biliary drain and chole tubes, as well as bleeding from sites, pain. Work up outpatient requests for procedures and present to physicians for approval, answer outpatient phone calls and emails from patients.

    RECOVERY&ROUNDING:

    Seeing post-procedure in-patients, helping consults with inpatient workups/consents, answering/addressing outpatient problem calls/emails, working up outpatient requests, assessing out-

    patient and in-patient complaints/evaluating sites/problem solving their issues. Obtaining out-patient consents in recovery room. Assessing and addressing pre- and post-procedure patient issues in recovery room.

    Contact point for outpatient questions/concerns for patients and medical teams.

    CONSULTS:

  • Work up requests for procedures and present to MDs, obtain consents, man phone for all calls coming to vascular IR regarding inpatient questions

  • Contact other physicians from other disciplines with questions or information about patients.

  • Bedside change of gastrostomy tubes, pulling IJ PICC

  • Contact point for inpatient questions/concerns for patients and medical teams.

  • Working up in-patient requests including preparing them for the procedure via consent, communication with admitting team for timing of procedure, ensuring all procedure required preparations are addressed/being arranged, contact point for outpatient questions/concerns for patients and medical teams.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/ CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

  • Current certification as a Certified Nurse Practitioner. Current state license as a Registered Nurse. Current ACLS/BLS as required. Current ATLS/PALS provider status as required.

  • Must be a master's prepared Registered Nurse who has graduated and taken the board certification within their chosen specialty -OR- Requires a bachelor's degree; completion of an AMA-approved Physician Assistant program; licensure as a Physician Assistant.
