This role is part of the Lunar Transportation business unit, which develops Blue Origin's multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. We seek an experienced electric motor design engineer to specify, design, and procure electric motors for valves, pumps, blowers, and fans for our Lunar Lander for NASA's Artemis mission. Your work will play a significant role in the complete life cycle of space transportation, from requirements definition, analysis, design, development, manufacturing, assembly, verification, integration, and operation on the moon. You will lead the specification, procurement, and/or design for Lunar electric motors, gearboxes, and actuators used in ECLSS, ATCS, and F&P subsyste

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Lead the design, analysis, and optimization of electrical motors for valves, pumps, fans, and blowers on a lunar lander, ensuring compliance with rigorous space and lunar environmental requirements Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate motor systems into the lunar lander's propulsion, life support, environmental control, and thermal control systems, ensuring seamless functionality and reliability Conduct detailed electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical analysis to ensure optimal motor performance in the unique conditions of lunar mission Provide technical expertise and mentorship to a diverse team of engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation in motor design for space applications Stay abreast of the latest advancements in electrical motor technology, materials, and space-rated components, and implement best practices to enhance motor design for lunar applications.
