Overview and Essential Functions

This position supports engineering manager and is responsible for ISP and OSP engineering and is responsible for coordinating, processing, and acquiring all permits required to facilitate and assist construction throughout the construction process. The employee will be well trained in the telecommunications and/or utility infrastructure industry. Should also be able to utilize practical production knowledge that is critical ensuring a smooth and efficient flow of deliverables to the regulatory agencies and back to the field for utilization. A strong candidate will be familiar with local permitting protocols and procedures and will be the link between engineering and construction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Under general supervision, performs field engineering of proposed projects in order to provide optimum routing alternatives ensuring the most cost-effective designs are developed for construction projects.

  • Provides suggested cable routings and proposed/actual equipment l locations and other topographical data intended to provide construction the most effective plant placement.

  • Provides field investigation of construction projects both aerial and underground construction.

  • Provides Auto Cad or hand drawn drawings depicting pickup locations and proposed routings .

  • Review, coordinate, process, and verify compliance with rules, regulations, and legal requirements applicable with permits required from approving agencies for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

  • Prepare timeline schedules for obtaining approved permits from agencies and distribute to project managers and engineers.

  • Research and obtain required permit data such as plans, quantities, statements, etc.

  • Confer with project managers and engineers to ensure accuracy of project data.

  • Prepare and submit all required permit applications and associated documents to approving agencies for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

  • Communicate with permit approving agencies as required to confirm timelines and proper procedures and documentation are met.

  • Obtain approved permits from agencies and distribute copies to construction, project managers and engineers.

  • Track all documents associated with the permit process from initial review through final permit approval to ensure timelines/schedules are met and to provide timely follow-up as required.
