College of Engineering University of Miami Advanced Materials Faculty Search

FALL 2023

The College of Engineering (CoE, https://www.coe.miami.edu/ ) at the University of Miami (UM in Coral Gables, FL) invites nominations and applications for multiple tenured/tenure-track faculty positions (at all levels - Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) in the area of Advanced Materials. The primary appointment could be in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Chemical, Environmental and Materials Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Civil and Architectural Engineering, or Electrical and Computer Engineering. Joint appointments with other university departments are also possible. The University of Miami’s College of Engineering has embarked on university-wide strategic initiatives ( www.coe.miami.edu/research/strategic-thrusts/index.html ) related to the University’s Roadmap to the Next Century. The search is open to all areas of Advanced Materials, including both structural and functional materials. Applications combining advanced modeling techniques and experiments are of particular interest. Some areas of emphasis include but are not limited to aerospace materials, advanced composites and alloys, materials for energy storage/generation, smart materials and nanomaterials, and bio-/ bio-inspired materials. The college is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute, through their research, teaching, and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.

Required Qualifications

The successful candidates should have an earned Ph.D. in a relevant engineering or science discipline. Post-doctoral training and experience in proposal development are highly desired. The selected candidate will be expected to teach classes at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Senior faculty will be expected to play a leadership role within his/her department, and to promote interdisciplinary research throughout the University in the field of Advanced Materials.
