Summary:

A tactical and transparent team leader, responsible for all aspects of domestic and international supply chain policies, strategic objectives and initiatives. Oversees all functions of strategic sourcing, cost management, inventory efficiency, forecast planning, and procurement. Devises strategic plans for supplier management. Develops and maintains procurement policies which ensure timely delivery of goods, equipment, materials, and supplies at the most economical cost, consistent with quality standards and specifications.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Directs operating procedures concerning the identification, selection, and qualification of suppliers, processing of purchasing requisitions/orders, and control of price, quality, and delivery requirements.

  • Leverages supplier technical capability to support new products as well as ongoing production activity.

  • Tactfully engages cross-functional leadership to ensure aligned goals, communication, and execution.

  • Develops and manages inventory strategies and policy to ensure optimized cycle time and maximum efficiency.

  • Directs the development of materials plans which respond to forecasted business demands.

  • Analyzes and evaluates inventory and delivery problems and determines solutions.

  • Directs negotiation strategy and manages global level supplier and subcontracting agreement parameters.

  • Manages integration of supplier interaction throughout Universal, particularly engineering and manufacturing.

  • Provides support for new product introduction processes, and make vs. buy decisions.

  • Measures performance and drives improvement in cost, quality, and delivery.

    Principal Accountabilities: (General Supervisory)

  • Carries out responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies, State and Federal laws, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training employees, planning, directing work and appraising performance.

  • Interprets company policies to employees and enforces all safety regulations.

  • Assures efficient and economical utilization of materials, improvement of methods, and waste elimination.

  • Develops workforce planning and utilization programs to satisfy actual and projected requirements; Includes the scheduling of overtime and cost/effective use of temporary services.

  • Implements cross-training activities and plans for employees under his/her direction with specific attention toward the development of a highly flexible work force.

  • Establishes and implements team/individual objectives, including the measurement and documentation of the progress of each employee toward the established goals.

  • Timely production problem solving, and recovery are crucial skills.

    Minimum Requirements:

  • Relevant Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Tech, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, or Supply Chain.

  • 10+ years of experience in Sourcing, Purchasing/Procurement, Planning, and Inventory ownership within manufacturing, preferably electro-mechanical.

  • Key Certifications include – CSCP, CPIM, CPSM, CPSD, SAPSCM.

  • Capital Equipment commodity experience (machine parts, precision instruments, electrical systems, casting etc)

  • Experience transitioning supply chains and manufacturing operations to international markets

  • Solid understanding of logistics freight, both domestically and internationally, including different sized carriers.

  • Strong hands-on ERP experience with SAP.

    Responsibility for Quality Procedures or Direct Product Quality:

  • Adheres to Universal Quality System policies and procedures and uses Total Cycle Time principles and standard problem solving tools to continuously improve work processes.

    Physical Demands:

  • May have to remain stationary for extended periods, but be mobile enough to navigate through work areas.

  • Position requires the ability to understand and interpret detailed documents and/or drawings.

  • Ability to travel 30%+, Domestically and Internationally.

    Target Annual Compensation: $185,000 - $225,000 + Bonus
