Sales Associate Job Description (Revised March 2022)

Job Summary

Sales Associates are expected to maintain a positive representation of Cleaver Farm and Home by providing an outstanding

customer service experience consistent with company values. The main task of a Sales Associate is to assist customers with

merchandise purchases and maintain a clean and efficient store. They should be willing to continually learn and expand their

knowledge of the retail industry.

Duties/Responsibilities

? Provide excellent customer service by assisting

customers, both in person and on the phone

(including text), answering their questions, helping

them find merchandise and suggesting add-on sales

that will help them complete their project. This will

also include processing special orders.

? Knowledge of point-of-sale systems in order to

accurately complete sales/returns, assist with price

lookup, and create special and stock orders.

? Create an inviting environment for customers by

maintaining a clean and orderly store, which will

include housekeeping tasks as needed.

? Notify customers of upcoming promotions and new

products.

? Assist in taking regular inventory of stock and

restocking shelves.

? Face and front product throughout the store

throughout the day.

? Merchandise product according to prescribed

planograms and help maintain signage.

? Assist with loading customers vehicles as needed.

? Cut keys and custom lengths of chain, tubing, wire,

and other products for customers.

? Alert management of shoplifters and other types of

theft.

? Performs other related duties as assigned.

? Adheres to all store policy and safety standards.

Required Skills/Abilities

? Professional attitude with outstanding customer service, communication, and listening skills.

? A working knowledge of the products contained in the store and lumberyard and willingness to continue to develop

product knowledge.

? Organization skills with the ability to think independently and problem solve.

? Strong math, reading, writing, and communication skills.

? Knowledge of point-of-sale and computer systems including email, Microsoft Office, basic Internet usage.

? Able to work a flexible schedule, including every other Saturday and occasional evenings during special events.

? Work without constant supervision.

Education and Experience

? On-the-job training provided.

Physical Requirements

? Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the retail space.

? Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds without assistance: may lift over 25 pounds with assistance.

? Must be able to climb a 10-foot ladder to retrieve or stock merchandise.
