Reporting to the Senior Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer of BILH, the Divisional President, Community is a newly created role responsible for the vision, strategic leadership and performance of community hospitals within BILH, including Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital -Needham, Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital -Plymouth, Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital -Milton, Anna Jaques Hospital, Exeter Health Resources, Winchester Hospital, and Beverly and Addison Gilbert Hospitals. The Divisional President, Community will have fiduciary accountability for the growth, delivery of superior clinical care, and management and development of the staff across both inpatient and ambulatory care settings within these facilities. This leader will be the representative to the community, serving key constituents while advancing the strategy of BILH to support the needs of the community. The Divisional President, Community will be responsible for ensuring that care is delivered compassionately and effectively across all care settings in the evolving healthcare market. This leader will drive operational excellence for the community hospital division while advancing the organization’s long-term strategic goal of “extraordinary care closer to you,” positioning BILH to provide world-leading academic medical care in the community, in the home, and through digital platforms. Job Description:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:

  1. Establish trusted relationships with physicians, staff, community, and patients/caregivers; play a visible, active role in the community.

  2. Organize and manage the performance of BILH’s community hospitals and related ambulatory sites of care.

  3. Advance community care expansion through the investment in clinical programs and services in the communities that BILH serves, strengthening the breadth and depth of service offerings for BILH’s community

hospitals and associated ambulatory sites of care.

  1. Develop and achieve financial and operational plans for the organization; lead the business in a transparent manner that ensures key results, business goals, and strategic objectives are achieved in a consistent and predictable manner, balancing quality, patient experience, and financial goals.

  2. Work in partnership with BILH leadership to develop and execute on growth strategies that will differentiate BILH and bring the highest quality academic care into the community.

  3. Recruit and retain a staff of outstanding clinical and administrative leaders that bring a strong commitment to the communities that BILH serves.

  4. Promote increased cohesion and unification across the division to realize the benefits of an integrated health system.

  5. Facilitate patient services and quality initiatives as part of the overall system quality program, continuing to distinguish the BILH as a quality leader.

  6. Support and lead a culture of collaboration and trust amongst leadership and medical staff.

Required Qualifications:

Advanced degree in related management disciplines, such as an MBA, MPH or MD desirable.

Track record of exemplary leadership experience resulting in a thorough and broad knowledge of healthcare issues, including value-based care models and health system reimbursement trends.

Experience in working in an integrated health system, ideally within a competitive marketplace.

Proficient in exercise of personal influence, building consensus, providing leadership, with ability to navigate a diverse group of stakeholders, build a network of allies, and interface with state and local regulators, earning and maintaining stakeholder trust and respect.

Abilities and Skills:

Ability to serve as an external face of the organization in the community and communicate the organizational mission to the public and to constituents in a clear, concise and persuasive manner. Capacity to build and continually augment highly effective relationships with all internal and external stakeholders, including clinical affiliates, donors, and community and political leaders so as to advance the vision and goals for the organization. Inspirational and empowering leader with ability to bring people together and gain consensus; builds a culture of collaboration, breaks down silos, is transparent and direct. Track record of successful P&L management; possesses strong financial and operational acumen. Track record of recruiting, developing and retaining an exceptional team of senior leaders and clinicians.
