Posting Summary
Participate as a highly-skilled technical team member of a large, clinical research lab to develop new specialized assays and experiments, assist in performing statistical analysis of data, assist in preparation of manuscripts, train and functional supervision of other staff, graduate students, collaborators outside of UVM with minimal supervision from the Principal Investigators and Lab Coordinator. Perform independently at a high level to develop and optimize new procedures and evaluate commercially available assays. Serve as a key resource for internal and external staff and investigators regarding research laboratory assays and research techniques and procedures utilized at the LCBR .
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
A Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Medical Technology, Biology or related field and three years experience and knowledge of hematology/coagulation assays, ELISAs, and Quality Control procedures required. Experience with Good Lab Practice regulations and BioSafety Level II regulations required. Attention to detail is required.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience with monitoring quality control and quality assurance in a research and/or clinical lab highly desirable. Clinical laboratory experience highly desirable. Proficiency with MS Excel and SPSS software highly desirable.
Anticipated Pay Range $26.00 to $30.00/hour. Actual hiring pay dependent on comparable campus peer(s) at time of hire, and candidate’s experience level and length.
Other Information
Special Conditions Bargaining unit position, External candidates must complete a 4-month probationary period, Contingent on continued funding, Occasional evening and/or weekends required (if non-exempt position, may result in overtime), A probationary period may be required for current UVM employees, Background Check required for this position
