The Kurabayashi Lab at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering, Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is seeking to hire a Research Assistant Professor to join in exciting projects in the areas of microfluidics and biosensors with expertise in molecular diagnostics of infections, cancer, and other immune disorders.

The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at NYU Tandon is a fast-growing department that educates future engineers who develop the physical systems and devices that modern society demands. Recent research has led to breakthroughs in lightweight protective materials used by national defense, sports medicine, and transportation; robots that aid in the education of children with autism; systems that lead wildlife away from danger areas; and design of urban systems to enhance our overall health and wellbeing.

The Research Assistant Professor will work with Prof. Kurabayashi to develop a strong research program in point-of-care microfluidic immunosensor platforms that enable rapid, sensitive, single molecule-level detection of proteins and DNA molecules in biofluids near the patient. We are seeking an academically well-established candidate with ample experience in designing molecular diagnostic devices, handling immunoassay reagents and blood samples, fabricating microfluidic bio-chips using soft lithography and 3D printing, and analyzing biomarker data. The project is expected to impact broad applications in future precision medicine of critical care and cancer. The Research Assistant Professor’s tasks involve securing funds from federal research agencies and industries, managing funded research programs as a PI or Co-PI, advising undergraduate, Master’s, Ph.D. students, and mentoring postdoctoral fellows. In addition to these research duties, the Research Assistant Professor is also allowed to teach courses as an Adjunct if there is need.

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transaprency Act, the annula base salary for this postioin is $ 62,500 - $80,000, depending on the candidate's experience and quailifications. Eligible candidates will be required to present eligibility to work in the United States.
