The Home Finding Department is responsible for the recruitment, training and certification of all foster homes within Children’s Aid. With approximately 500 homes either in the process of certification or certified, Home Finding is the initial contact for prospective foster parents with the agency’s foster care division within Children’s Aid. The Home Finding Department seeks to ensure a highly quality of care for children in the agency’s care as well as highly quality of customer service for our foster parents. Children’s Aid has four foster care programs within the agency including Enhanced Family Foster Care which includes Family Foster Care and Treatment Family Foster Care as well as Medical Foster Care and Medical Foster Care for Developmental Disabilities


Position Summary:The Home Finding Training Coordinator is responsible for the precertification and recertification training of foster parents as well as tracking and entering of training data into Connections.


Essential Duties:

  • Provide pre-certification training to prospective parents via MAPP and Deciding Together as well as Trauma Responsive and Informed Parenting Approach (TRIPP).

  • As part of pre-certification training, provide feedback of assessment of applicants to Home Finder and Supervisor.

  • Provide ongoing reauthorization training to foster parents to meet the needs of children across all four programs.

  • Track training needs for Office of Special Investigations.

  • Track training hours by entering training hours into Connections and Excel spreadsheet trackers to ensure compliance.

  • Conduct ongoing outreach to foster parents on an ongoing basis by phone, email and mail to engage and register foster parents for trainings.

  • Monitor compliance of foster parent training to follow up and meet with foster parents who are non-compliant with training hours.

  • Maintain detailed records regarding training curriculum, attendance and certification.

  • Liaison with Home Finding Department staff regarding prospective foster parents as well as foster parents attending recertification training.

  • Travel to foster homes and sites across all NYC boroughs to provide training to foster parents.

  • In-person collaboration is an essential function of the job.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s in Social Work preferred.

  • Knowledge of the Foster Care /Adoption Field.

  • Knowledge of child development including children with special needs preferred.

  • Experience as a public speaker and/or trainer.

  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus.

  • Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines including working evenings and weekends when required.
