Johns Hopkins University Research Assistant in Baltimore, Maryland

We are seeking a Research Assistant who will assist with the research for Professor Waugh on two different projects: Urban Heat Monitoring and Ocean Modeling during the summer.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Urban Heat Monitoring assist with

  • The development of data management system for data collected from weather stations.

  • Collection of new data from weather stations and other instruments

  • Analysis of spatial-temporal variation in temperature and relative humidity.

  • Development of data visualization system.

Ocean Modeling assist with

  • Management of large datasets generated by multiple global ocean or climate models.

  • Collection of additional data from various sources (modeling and observations)

  • Analysis of variations in ocean fields using this large data collection.

Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Excellent written and oral skills and the ability to communicate effectively are essential Strong organizational, administrative, project management, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to manage and track large amounts of sensitive and diverse data.

  • Ability to work independently and with others.

  • Ability to understand and enforce laboratory safety standards and protocols.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.

  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Classified Title: Research Assistant

Role/Level/Range: ACRO40/E/03/CD

Starting Salary Range: $17.00 - $30.00 HRLY (Commensurate with experience)

Employee group: Casual / On Call

Schedule: Monday-Friday; 8:30-5pam

Exempt Status: Non-Exempt
