Overview

The Research Assistant I willassist and collaborate with the Principal Investigator (PI) and other research staff in the Brain Injury Clinical Research Center (BI CRC). The incumbent will need to be adaptable, flexible, and responsible for performing a variety of duties related to collecting, analyzing, and archiving data in order to utilize the diverse technology and support the research goals of the BI CRC. This position includes participant recruitment and engagement; and acquisition and analysis of behavioral, neuroimaging, and other physiological (e.g., wearable technology) data.

Responsibilities

  1. Assist with research participant recruitment, enrollment, engagement, retention, and scheduling.

  2. Assist with research participant testing and interviewing, as well as scoring, coding, and verification of research data.

  3. Assist with the creation and maintenance of research databases and survey tools.

  4. Work with research study participants as a cognitive training coach and assist with virtual reality cognitive training sessions.

  5. Work as part of a research team to carry out mock scans, acquire structural and functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scans, and analyze MRI data.

  6. Perform single subject and group analysis of neuroimaging, behavioral, and physiological data.

  7. Manage archives of ongoing brain scan study data. Archive unprocessed behavioral data, and generate and compile statistical data.

  8. Assist with the acquisition, management, and analysis of clinical, behavioral, and physiologic data (neuroimaging, wearable technology).

  9. Coordinate Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications and maintain regulatory documents for IRB compliance for various research projects.

  10. Assist with carrying out research protocols.

  11. Attend weekly research meetings and assist with grant preparation, manuscript preparation, quality control issues, and protocol development or revision.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a science-related field (e.g., biology, neuroscience, psychology, biomedical engineering, computer science, or physics).

EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience working in a research laboratory is preferred.

  • Previous experience administering experiments preferred.
