Work Hours: 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week. This position requires the employee to be in the office a minimum of three days out of the work week with a total of twelve work hours completed at the office to perform their job duties. Description: Join the Texas Medical Boards Internship program! Our Internship program offers paid, temporary employment positions for students currently enrolled or recently graduated from an accredited college, university, or technical school. Selected candidates will be required to submit an official transcript to Human Resources for review prior to starting with the agency. Internships for the summer 2024 period will begin no earlier than June 3, 2024 and end no later than July 31, 2024. The Finance department is seeking an intern to perform entry-level professional accounting work such as preparing and entering journal entries, reconciling accounting transactions, and/or preparing financial schedules or reports. General Description: Performs routine (journey-level) tec nical accounting support work. Work involves performing detailed assignments in recording, classifying, examining, and verifying financial records, documents, or reports. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Classifies, codes, posts, and balances financial accounting documents and records. Compiles statistical, financial, accounting, or auditing reports and tables pertaining to cash receipts, expenditures, and accounts payable and receivable. Prepares and/or enters journal entries to process vouchers for payment or reconciling transaction corrections already posted. Assists with researching and reconciling discrepancies in accounts, bank statements, or appropriation balances, and reports findings. Assists with the preparation of financial statements and reports. May assist with an annual inventory of equipment and supplies. May assist with tracking invoices to ensure payments are made. May assist with auditing financial reports, vouchers, invoices, requisitions, purchase orders, statements, and similar records. Performs related work as assigned. Minimum Requirements: Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be eligible to work in the United States. Currently enrolled or recently graduated from an accredited college, university, or technical school. Students recently graduated within the past 12 months are eligible to apply. Students must have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 or higher. Must have a minimum of 30 semester credit hours or more from an accredited college, university, or technical school. Knowledge of Micro Software package, TEAMS, and SharePoint. Applicants needed to work from home and must have or can secure high-speed internet access with a minimum speed of 20 MBPS download and 2 MBPS upload. Applicants may be required to provide confirmation from the area ISP. Preferred Requirements: Course work in accounting, finance, or business administration. Licenses and Certifications: N/A Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of: Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Business or program terminology, methods, and procedures. Skill in: The use of standard office equipment and personal computers. Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook. Effective written and verbal communication including telephone etiquette and business writing. Ability to: Analyze or evaluate problems. Develop, recommend, or present alternative solutions. Perform detail-orientated tasks with a high degree of accuracy. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships. Work with sensitive and confidential information.
