The Department of Information Systems and Business Analytics in the Massry School of Business, University at Albany, State University of New York, located in Albany, New York (http://www.albany.edu/business) invites applications for a full-time, tenure track appointment in Business Analytics and Information Systems. The position will commence Fall 2024.

The successful applicant will have an active and rigorous research agenda with strong potential for funding and the ability to collaborate with students and other faculty in research. The area of research expertise for this position is open but should be aligned with applied uses of information. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate courses in solving business problems through the applications of analytics and artificial intelligence, information systems design, and information systems use in applied environments.

The Massry School of Business is AACSB accredited in both business and accounting and offers a supportive environment for research with teaching loads and research support competitive with other major research universities. Our Information Systems and Business Analytics faculty are research-active with publications and editorial positions in top-tier IS, Simulation, and Business outlets, including Information Systems Research, MISQ, EJIS, CAIS, JAIS, JBR, Expert Systems with Applications and various IEEE and ACM publications. The School of Business offers degrees at the bachelor's and master's levels and is an active participant in the University's PhD program in Information Science.

The University at Albany is a Carnegie 1 research university with over 17,000 undergraduate and graduate students and is one of four research centers in the SUNY system. The University is located in the state capital, and the surrounding capital district area is a center for culture, entertainment, and outdoor recreation. Albany is three hours from New York City, Boston, and Montreal. Close by are the Berkshires, the Catskills, historic Saratoga Springs, and the Adirondack Mountains; areas famed for recreational, educational, and cultural opportunities.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A PhD in Quantitative Business, Computer Science, Analytics, or Enginering and Information Systems or related field from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization by 8/31/2024. Candidates who will not hold the degree by this date will not be considered.

  • Candidates should demonstrate outstanding scholarly research achievement and publishing in top-tier journals. Must possess a record of research.

  • Applicants must address their plans to teach undergraduate and graduate courses.

  • Applicants must address their willingness to teach remotely or online.

  • Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community

  • Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging relative to their role

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in teaching business analytics and big data courses, including analytics for managers, business analytics, relational and non-relational database design, big data processing architectures, cloud-based big data services, and client-side prototyping at all levels.

  • Experience in applying for and obtaining funding for their research.
